David Lee joined Rathbun, Cservenyak & Kozol, LLC as an associate attorney in 2023. Since obtaining his license in 2021, he has focused primarily on tax compliance and provision issues. His work has spanned various forms of entities including flow-through partnerships and Fortune 500 corporations.
David graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting and Finance. During his time at CSUF, he worked full-time at a local bicycle shop. As the bicycle shop grew to 30+ employees, David created a role that encompassed the administration, accounting, and shipping and receiving duties at the shop. He also led the effort to implement a new Point of Sale system at the shop. After graduating from CSUF, David moved to South Louisiana, and worked for a third party administrator that specialized in administering non-qualified deferred compensation plans to ensure compliance with IRC Section 409(A).
David moved to Champaign, IL in 2018 and received his Juris Doctor Cum Laude from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign College of Law. During law school, he received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Elder Law; CALI awards are given to the student with the highest grade in the class. He also spent a summer as a law clerk at a law firm in Urbana, and a summer as an intern at Deloitte Tax LLP. Before joining Rathbun, Cservenyak & Kozol, LLC, David worked at Deloitte Tax and KPMG specializing in state and local tax compliance, and tax provision issues.
David is a current member of the Illinois State and Chicago Bar Associations. He regularly attends meetings for the Chicago Bar Association's Young Lawyers Section.
