In 2006, the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act was amended to require parents to attend mandatory mediation before implementing a parenting plan regarding the allocation of parental responsibilities and parenting time, formerly known as custody.
Mediation is a non-binding process that occurs when the parents meet in the spirit of resolution with a neutral third-party to facilitate an agreement that can be put in writing and submitted to the court.
At Rathbun, Cservenyak & Kozol, Partner Katherine L. Maloney and Attorney Laura I. Miroballi are certified family law mediators and have assisted many parents with parental allocation mediation. Because of their vast experience in family law, our attorneys can quickly evaluate your case and facilitate negotiations between parents who are prepared to work out an amicable agreement.
In addition to providing mediation services to parents concerning parental responsibilities, the experienced mediators at Rathbun, Cservenyak & Kozol can also assist parties in mediation of other family law issues such as divorce, property distribution and maintenance.
